The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy is hosting the 10th in a series of planned strategic energy development forums for tribal leaders and interested staff on “Tribal Energy Systems: Climate Preparedness and Resiliency.” The forum will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Thunder Valley Resort in Lincoln, California, near Sacramento.

Geared specifically toward tribal leaders and staff, the forum provides an opportunity for attendees to interact with other Tribes, federal agencies, and industry to learn more about climate change and resiliency efforts. The forum will cover topics such as tribal energy systems, models and best practices, clean and efficient climate-resilient energy developments, and climate-smart energy development practices and uses of green and natural infrastructure.

Tribal speakers will include:
• Blue Lake Rancheria
• Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
• Muscogee (Creek) Nation
• Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians
• Yurok Tribe.

In addition, there will be speakers from various federal agencies. For details, download the agenda.

This forum is open to tribal leaders and tribal staff only. There is no fee to attend, but you must register by Feb. 27. When you register, you will also find information about making your hotel reservations. Register now.
