The Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA): (1) performs independent assessments for DOE senior leadership that report on whether national security assets are appropriately protected and Departmental operations provide for the safety of employees and the public; (2) implements DOE's regulatory enforcement program to promote contractor compliance with the Department’s safety and information security requirements; and (3) operates the Department’s National Training Center (NTC) to foster excellence in workforce leadership and technical capabilities.

Areas of Focus

  • The Office of National Security Assessments conducts independent evaluations of the effectiveness of safeguards and security policies and programs throughout the Department, including those for protecting special nuclear material and classified and sensitive information, and makes extensive use of large- and small-scale performance testing to realistically evaluate site safeguards and security defense capabilities.
