WASHINGTON, D.C. – This weekend, U.S. Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette will visit Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to formally launch and convene the first meeting of the U.S.-Brazil Energy Forum (USBEF). USBEF was directed by President Trump and Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro during their meeting in Washington in March 2019, with the goal of strengthening U.S.-Brazil energy cooperation.  It will be co-chaired by Secretary Brouillette and Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy Bento Albuquerque.

On Sunday, February 2, the Secretary will lead a roundtable discussion with U.S. civil nuclear energy industry representatives. On Monday, February 3, Secretary Brouillette will witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding increasing bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Brazilian nuclear industry. Directly following the signing, Secretary Brouillette and Minister Albuquerque will hold a press conference on the importance of nuclear energy and bolstering the energy relationship between the U.S. and Brazil.
