DOE emergency response efforts provide clear and consistent communication to deliver situational awareness of energy sector impacts. DOE responders in the field will facilitate subject matter expertise and assist with expedited waivers and special permits that aid industry restoration efforts. We do so in close communication with our Federal partners, including FEMA, the Departments of Homeland Security, Transportation, Defense, Interior, and the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as state agencies and energy companies affected by the storm.

DOE issued situation reports on Hurricanes Maria, Irma, Nate and Harvey to provide details on the storms' impacts, and the energy industry's recovery and restoration activities. Beginning on October 16, 2017, the situation reports were condensed to focus on the status of energy infrastructure and restoration efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Beginning the week of December 4, DOE began issuing a single situation report on Wednesdays, with updates on the response and recovery efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. As of January 31, 2018 regular updates on USVI restoration efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands were discontinued. On April 4, 2018, DOE discontinued the weekly Situation Reports related to Hurricanes Maria and Irma. DOE will continue to provide updates on any significant issues as appropriate. Information on current electricity restoration progress in Puerto Rico can be found at Status.PR or the official Twitter page of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers @USACEHQ.
