The DOE Office of Indian Energy is sponsoring an energy forum during the National Reservation Economic Summit (RES) 2014 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Part of DOE's silver-level sponsorship of RES 2014, the forum will take place on March 17, 2014, from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and will feature the following roundtable sessions:

  • Roundtable Session One: Tribes and Utilities—This roundtable will focus on the complex relationship Tribes have with local incumbent utilities, including how Tribes and utilities have come to cooperate as good neighbors and what can be done to create future opportunities.

  • Roundtable Session Two: Energy Project Success in Indian Country—This roundtable discussion will focus on recent successful tribal and nontribal energy projects.

  • Roundtable Session Three: Game Changers: Energy Investment Strategies and New IRS Rulings—This roundtable will focus on three topics: 1) Renewable energy as an investment from electric vehicles to solar farms, 2) the recent IRS ruling on the Investment Tax Credit and what it means for Tribes, and 3) solar distributed generation and net metering in Indian Country.

  • Roundtable Session Four: Indian Country and Energy: Now and Looking to the Future—This roundtable discussion will focus on the current state of Indian Country’s energy opportunity in terms of both resource development and project development.
