Environmental Monitoring at the Idaho National Laboratory Site

This report presents the results of an assessment of environmental monitoring and surveillance activities at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Idaho National Laboratory Site that was conducted March through April 2010.  The assessment was performed by the DOE Office of Independent Oversight, within the Office of Health, Safety and Security, at the request of the DOE Idaho Operations Office.  The purpose of the assessment was to evaluate the adequacy of the site's environmental monitoring and surveillance program in meeting the objectives of DOE Order 450.1A for protecting public health and the environment and conducting monitoring and assuring data quality, and the objectives of DOE Order 5400.5 for assessing potential pathways of contaminant emissions that may impact the local environment and public living near the site.
