Alencon proposes a new type of transformational approach to utility-scale PV systems based on novel, patent-pending ideas. A 99.1% efficient, centralized inverter with a capacity of up to 100 megawatts (MW) lies at the heart of the Alencon system. Feeding this single inverter is an advanced harvesting network that utilizes string-wise maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and high DC voltage nodes that are easy to install and maintain.

• In Year 1, the team will build and test the 10-MW prototype inverter and high-voltage PV harvesting nodes.
• In Year 2, the team will build and test a pre-production prototype inverter and PV harvesting nodes.
• In Year 3, the team will field-test and commercialize the system.

Alencon's proposed approach simplifies the engineering design and reduces costs and losses for large-scale PV systems, while increasing their efficiency and yield. Their solution will combine the best of both centralized and string inverter systems to achieve a utility-scale solar installation with:
