At GSA’s 911 Federal Building in Portland, OR, replacing 265 four-foot T8 fluorescent fixtures on the building’s fifth floor with a system that consists of 245 2x2 LED troffers with integrated controls is expected to reduce energy costs by 61%. The LED troffer luminaires that comprise the new connected lighting system feature integral sensors that can share data wirelessly with neighboring luminaires, thereby allowing them to switch, raise, or lower their light output in response to occupancy and daylight – and, in the process, maximize their energy efficiency.
