DOE Total Funding: $583,953
Cost Share: $157,000
Project Term: September 1, 2016 – August 31, 2018
Funding Opportunity: SSL R&D Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) (DE-FOA-0001364)

Project Objective

This project will develop OLEDs fabricated on low-cost high index corrugated substrates with a semi-random periodicity to give enhancements in extraction efficiency across the entire visible spectrum, due to the extraction of the thin-film-guided and surface-plasmon modes.

Project Impact

This project takes another novel approach to increasing the efficiency of OLED lighting by reducing the amount of light that gets trapped inside the device – still a major hurdle for OLEDs.
