Here at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), every day and all year round, we’re focused on fighting climate change and mitigating its harmful effects on the environment, our natural resources, and communities.

This Earth Month, we’re sharing how DOE is investing to meet climate goals, how you can help in this fight while saving money on energy bills, how our National Laboratories are leading cutting-edge research, and lastly, classroom activities that students across the country can enjoy.

Investing to Fight Climate Change

Every year, addressing climate change becomes more urgent. The good news is, the Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Biden in 2022 is the largest investment in climate action and clean energy in the history of the United States. Coupled with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that President Biden also signed, DOE has been supercharged with resources to support projects, research, and innovation to create clean energy here in America and cut greenhouse gas emissions.

National Laboratory Resources

The Department of Energy’s 17 National Laboratories across the country tackle the critical scientific challenges of our time — from combating climate change to discovering the origins of our universe.

Check out each Lab to watch special videos created for this year’s Earth Day theme “Planet vs. Plastics,” as well as other videos about clean energy, climate change, and other work from the Labs. We have resources for students of all grades and general audiences.
