Meckes began her career in communications at the age of eight when she opened a lemonade stand. Quickly realizing the market was over saturated, she launched an aggressive public relations campaign, diversified her stand's product offerings, modified the hours of operation and began traveling straight to the consumer. Within weeks she was able to buy out the competition and employ a bunch of the neighborhood children. Since then, Meckes has worked in a variety roles in the digital space for everyone from Fortune 500 companies to non-profit organizations -- all with a focus on user experience and network optimization. During her tenure as the Director of User Experience & Digital Technologies in the Office of Public Affairs, Meckes drove the Energy Department's digital reform efforts: eliminating redundancies and wasteful spending by developing Energy.gov into a collaborative, more accessible platform.
