The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which was signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009. It is an unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy and create or save millions of jobs. The Recovery Act also made a down payment on our clean energy future. DOE received nearly $37 billion through the Recovery Act to complement the base appropriation of $34 billion. The base appropriation increased by over $9 billion from the FY 2008 level due to additional funding of
the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan program and numerous science, energy, and
national security initiatives.
