Assessment of Safety System Management at the Savannah River Site Defense Waste Processing Facility

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Safety and Environmental Assessments, within the independent Office of Enterprise Assessments, conducted a safety system management assessment of the emergency electrical power system and the melter off-gas system at the Savannah River Site (SRS) Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF).  The Office of Environmental Management Savannah River Operations Office (DOE-SR) has overall responsibility for the site.  Savannah River Remediation, LLC is the DOE-SR prime contractor for liquid waste at SRS, which includes operation of DWPF, but operates under the umbrella of sitewide work processes established by the management and operating contractor for the site, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC.
