CATHY ZOI:  Hi, there.  I’m Cathy Zoi, assistant secretary of energy at DOE.  Hey, today Vice President Biden made a big announcement.  One of the cornerstone programs in the Recovery Act is the Weatherization Assistance Program.  And during August, we will have weatherized 200,000 homes across America.  That’s 200,000 low-income families that will be benefitting from lower energy bills and from increased comfort in the coming years.  It’s absolutely fantastic progress.

And what’s more is that we’ve actually created over 13,000 jobs to get this work done.  Those are 13,000 people that have good, green, sustainable jobs helping people save money, helping reduce our dependence on foreign oil.  And what we really love about this is that this sort of program is a down payment on weatherizing homes across the country, low-income, middle-income.  Everywhere, we now have experienced, trained workers in every state in this country to be able to get that job done.  We’re very, very pleased with this progress and we congratulate everybody who has helped get us to this point.  We look forward to continued progress.

So we’re just having a big conversation on our Facebook and Twitter pages about weatherization right now and we hope that you’ll join us.  Come with questions.  Come with comments.  Just participate in this very, very exciting transformation to a clean-energy economy.  Thanks so much.
