Wabash Rural Electric Membership Cooperative (REMC) is a member-owned electric distribution organization that provides service to customers in north-central Indiana. To encourage energy efficiency, Wabash County REMC offers rebates to residential customers for the purchase of efficient heat pumps and water heaters. In addition, Wabash County REMC also offers residential customers a $100 rebate for a new water heater if they agree to have a radio-controlled water heater switch installed on electric water heaters.
WIN Energy REMC offers incentives to residential customers for the purchase and installation of energy efficient water heaters, air source heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, and central air conditioning systems. All equipment must meet certain energy efficiency standards listed on the program web site. Rebates must be submitted in person, within 30 days of the equipment installation date.
Vectren Energy Delivery offers its residential natural gas customers in Indiana rebates for the installation of certain high efficiency natural gas appliances and insulation measures. Rebates are available for furnaces, boilers, programmable thermostats, wall insulation, ceiling insulation and duct sealing. The program is only available for residential homes or rental buildings with three units or less. Additionally, Vectren offers two voluntary energy management programs which briefly cycle select appliances in homes during periods of peak electricity demand.
Vectren Energy Delivery offers commercial natural gas customers in Indiana rebates for the installation of certain types of efficient natural gas equipment. Prescriptive equipment rebates are available for measures including furnaces, boilers, boiler controls, pool covers, water heaters, stream trap servicing and food service equipment. A custom incentive program is available for projects that do not qualify under the prescriptive rebate program.
Vectren Energy Delivery offers commercial customers in Indiana electric rebates for the installation of certain types of equipment in newly constructed buildings. Prescriptive and performance based equipment rebates are available for measures including lighting, HVAC measures and insulation. Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana offers several rebates to electric residential customers who purchase and install energy efficient equipment in their home. Eligible equipment includes central air conditioners, electric heat pumps and ECM motors for HVAC applications. All efficiency and installation requirements of the program must be met in order to receive a rebate. All equipment invoice(s) must be postmarked within 60 days of installation. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission enforces regulations in this legislation that apply to all individuals, corporations, companies, and partnerships that may own, operate, manage, or control any equipment for the production, transmission, delivery, or furnishing of heat, light, water, or power; or collection, treatment, purification, and disposal in a sanitary manner of liquid and solid waste, sewage, night soil, and industrial waste.
This statute establishes the state's support and incentives for the development of new energy production and generating facilities implementing advanced clean coal technology, such as coal gasification. The statute also supports the development of projects using renewable energy sources as well as projects that may enhance the safe and reliable use of nuclear energy production or generating technologies.
A permit is required from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for the construction of a utility upon a state park, a state forest, a state game preserve, land acquired by the state and set aside as a scenic or historic place, or the portion of a public highway passing through one of the aforementioned types of places.
