As part of its Youth/Emerging Leaders Summit, the 2015 National Environmental Justice Conference and Training Program (NEJC) planners are inviting individuals or groups, ages 15 to 25, to submit PowerPoint or Video presentations, not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes in length, related to environmental justice in their respective communities. Each PowerPoint or Video presentation should include the submitter’s name(s), affiliation, and full contact information. Additional rules and requirements are attached.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) released the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Recovery Plan, outlining the necessary steps to resume operations at the transuranic waste disposal site outside of Carlsbad, N.M. WIPP operations were suspended following an underground truck fire and a radiological release earlier this year.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United Kingdom’s National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) met with senior members of EM and DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) recently to amend a landmark Statement of Intent to include the NNL in collaborations on radioactive waste and nuclear materials cleanup and management.
