The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Environment Canada released the U.S.-Canada Clean Energy Dialogue (CED) Action Plan II.

On the occasion of President Obama’s March 2011 visit to Brazil, President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil and he announced the creation of a Strategic Energy Dialogue (SED) to support the two countries’ common goals of developing safe, secure and affordable supplies of energy for economic growth, energy security, and the transition to a clean energy economy.  Priority areas of cooperation include oil and natural gas, biofuels, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and nuclear energy.  In August 2011, U.S.

At the Third Clean Energy Ministerial in London today, the U.S. Department of Energy announced a three-part plan to help implement the Clean Energy Education and Empowerment initiative or “C3E” – a Ministerial program aimed at attracting more women to clean energy careers and supporting their advancement into leadership positions.

Leaders from the 23-government Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and the UN Secretary-General’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative (SE4All) outlined specific commitments by participating countries and private sector leaders which will promote improved energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, and increased energy access around the world.

The governments of the United States of America and the Republic of Iraq reaffirmed their commitment to joint cooperation in the areas of oil production and export, natural gas, electricity, and critical energy infrastructure protection.

The U.S. Department of Energy announced the selections for three consortia that will make up the $125 million U.S.-India Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Center (JCERDC).

Partnership Aims to Further Economic Development Cooperation

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman and South African Minister of Energy Dipuo Peters held the second meeting of the U.S. – South Africa Bilateral Energy Dialogue on January 16, 2012.

The report examines the role that rare earth metals and other key materials play in clean energy technologies such as wind turbines, electric vehicles, solar cells and energy-efficient lighting. The report found that several clean energy technologies use materials at risk of supply disruptions in the short term, with risks generally decreasing in the medium and long terms. Supply challenges for five rare earth metals (dysprosium, neodymium, terbium, europium and yttrium) may affect clean energy technology deployment in the years ahead.
