This is the fifth year OREM employees have participated in the annual Feds Feed Families summer campaign that helps replenish local food banks and raises awareness about the prevalence of hunger.

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—Employees in U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management (OREM) donated 3,209 pounds of food to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. The donation was part of the national Feds Feed Families campaign.

This is the fifth year employees in the office have participated in the annual summer campaign that helps replenish local food banks and raises awareness about the prevalence of hunger. The campaign continues to garner high participation and serve as a cornerstone charitable event for local federal employees.

“It’s very encouraging to see the way our team has continued to embrace this cause,” said OREM Acting Manager Sue Cange. “The level of participation is an excellent reflection of our employees’ involvement and concern for the less fortunate in our region.”

OREM gave all food donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, which provides food, services and education to an 18-county area. Donations to Second Harvest support the non-profit organization’s mission to provide nutritional needs for all people at risk of hunger.

Since the program began in 2009, federal workers participating in Feds Feed Families campaign have donated 24.1 million pounds of food and other non-perishable items to support families across America.
