The Oak Ridge Site Specific Advisory Board (ORSSAB) and the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge Environmental (EM) Program recognized retiring board member Jan Lyons at its September meeting. ORSSAB is a federally chartered citizens’ panel that provides recommendations to DOE’s Oak Ridge EM Program.

“After three years of service to the board I know the other board members will miss you, as will I,” said Susan Cange, the board’s DOE Deputy Designated Federal Officer and Manager of the Oak Ridge EM Program. “Thank you for your service. We appreciate everything you’ve done for the board.”

Board chair Dave Hemelright also thanked Lyons for her time. “You will be greatly missed. You have been a great help to me as vice chair this year.”

DOE appointed Lyons to ORSSAB in July 2012. She served as chair of the Public Outreach Committee and was vice chair of the board for FY 2015. She was also a regular contributor to the board’s newsletter, the Advocate, writing the ‘Snapshot in History’ column.

The ORSSAB meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., at the DOE Information Center at 1.Science.gov Way in Oak Ridge. Information about the board is available on the internet at www.energy.gov/ORSSAB or by calling (865) 241-4583 or 241-4584.
