In November 2001, the U.S. Postal Service began sending first class mail addressed to OHA to a facility in Lima, Ohio, for irradiation to kill anthrax spores. At this point we understand that the irradiation process can delay mail delivery by over 45 days.
This situation may continue for the forseeable future. We therefore encourage submitters of any time-sensitive material to telefax it to the Office of Hearings and Appeals at (202) 287-1415. As an alternative, we have established a special email address -- OHA.firstname.lastname@example.org -- at which we will accept time-sensitive filings. Please note (1) the period between OHA and filings in the email address, and (2) that because of signature issues, we may ask you to file a signed original of a document.
