The Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) issued a decision granting in part an appeal from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) determination issued by the Oak Ridge Office (ORO). Ms. Sherriff filed a FOIA request for employment, medical and exposure records relating to her grandfather’s employment at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. ORO conducted a search and located several responsive documents. However, none of the documents included medical or exposure records, so Ms. Sherriff filed an appeal challenging the adequacy of the search that was performed. In the appeal, Ms. Sherriff contended that the records from the K-25 plant in Oak Ridge should also be searched, and ORO agreed to do this. Consequently, we remanded this matter to ORO so that a search of the K-25 records could be performed.
