Personnel Security Hearing (10 CFR Part 710)

On December 6, 2012, an OHA Hearing Officer determined that an individual should be granted a security clearance. In reaching this determination, the Hearing Officer found that the individual had successfully addressed the DOE’s security concerns regarding his alcohol consumption. Specifically, the Hearing Officer concluded that the individual’s eight months of abstinence and Alcohol Anonymous attendance, along with the strength of his motivation to stop drinking and his ability to socialize with drinkers without feeling an urge to drink himself, among other factors, were sufficient to demonstrate rehabilitation from Alcohol Abuse. OHA Case No. PSH-12-0090 (Robert B. Palmer, H.O.)
