On Friday, July 11, the Department of Energy will host a public meeting in Portland, Oregon, to gather public comments on the Quadrennial Energy Review. This meeting will focus specifically on issues associated with electricity transmission, storage and distribution in the western United States.

Synchrophasor Engineering Education Program Project Summaries Available

On March 6, 2014, the Academic-Industry Collaboration (AIC) - Synchrophasor Engineering Education Program hosted an information exchange webinar that included presentation from each of seven projects that received awards totalling approximately $1.4 million to help colleges and universities better prepare the electricity industry workforce of the future. The agenda and project summaries from the information exchange are available to download.

NASPI Technical Workshop Reports Now Available

In 2012 and 2013, NASPI held a series of technical workshops intended to educate and document the stakeholder community on the state of the art for key synchrophasor technology issues: renewables integration, phasor tools visualization, and model validation. Presentations and results from these workshop have been compiled into three technical reports that are now available for download.

Cybersecurity for Energy Delivery Systems (CEDS) Peer Review August 5-7

The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) will hold a peer review of its Cybersecurity for Energy Delivery Systems (CEDS) Program and a Roadmap Milestone Assessment Workshop on August 5-7, 2014 at the Hilton Crystal City in Arlington, VA. This event is open to the public and will bring together leaders from industry, National Laboratories, and academia to hear first-hand about forthcoming CEDS solutions, provide feedback to CEDS program managers, and network with experts.

Webinar: EISPC Energy Zones Mapping Tool Demonstration

Argonne National Laboratory has organized a webinar demonstration of the Eastern Interconnection States’ Planning Council (EISPC) Energy Zones (EZ) Mapping Tool, a free online mapping tool for identifying areas in all 39 EISPC states that may be suitable for new clean power generation. The tool is maintained by Argonne National Laboratory with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy.

As part of the Obama Administration’s commitment to a strong and secure power grid, the Energy Department today announced more than $10 million for projects that will improve the reliability and resiliency of the U.S. electric grid and facilitate quick and effective response to grid conditions.
