OE's Imre Gyuk, Energy Storage Program Manager, will present an introduction to flow battery technology, and Dan Borneo of Sandia National Laboratories will discuss flow battery testing and technological readiness.

Two New Energy Storage Safety Reports Now Available

The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability has released two reports on energy storage safety: “Overview of Development and Deployment of Codes, Standards and Regulations Affecting Energy Storage System Safety in the United States” and “Inventory of Safety-Related Codes and Standards for Energy Storage Systems.” Both reports were produced by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as part of OE’s Energy Storage Safety Initiative.

August 22 ESTAP Webinar: A Solar Storage Microgrid for the Energy City of the Future

On Friday, August 22, 2014 from 1 - 2 p.m. ET, Clean Energy State Alliance will host a webinar to discuss a project to build a solar plus storage microgrid located in Rutland, Vermont. OE is partnering with the State of Vermont Public Service, Green Mountain Power, and Dynapower on a resilience microgrid that will combine 2.5 MW of solar generation with 4MW of energy storage. Webinar speakers include OE's Imre Gyuk, Energy Storage Program Manager. The event is free but registration is required.

Bulk Energy Storage Webinar Rescheduled for February 9, 2012

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Iowa Stored Energy Park (ISEP) are conducting a free, 1-hour webinar, Lessons from Iowa: The Economic, Market, and Organizational Issues in Making Bulk Energy Storage Work, on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. ET. Presenters include Dr. Imre Gyuk of DOE’s Office of Electricity Deliverability and Energy Reliability and Bob Schulte from ISEP.

The webinar was original scheduled for January 20, 2012, but experienced technical difficulties due to the large number of participants and was rescheduled. All participants must reregister.

Department of Energy Will Hold a Batteries and Energy Storage Information Meeting on October 21, 2011

On Friday, October 21, 2011 the Department of Energy will hold a public meeting from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, MD to provide information and receive comments from the public on directions for a potential research effort on batteries and energy storage.
