Jon C. Worthington, OE-20 - Deputy Assistant Secretary for National Electricity Delivery
Jon C. Worthington has a thirty year career in the Federal power and energy marketing industry at DOE. In 2012, Mr. Worthington was named the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the National Electricity Delivery Division in DOE’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE). Here he directs the coordination of Federal transmission authorizations, state and regional policy assistance, an interconnection-wide transmission planning initiative, and the National Electric Transmission Congestion Study.
Prior to his current position in OE, in 2006, Mr. Worthington was appointed Administrator of Southeastern Power Administration and in 2007, appointed Administrator of Southwestern Power Administration in Tulsa, OK. There he developed and implemented strategies to assure the cost-effective acquisition and sale of cost-based hydropower to support energy innovation and security. He ensured that emergency operations were fully functional and met NERC requirements for operating standards and cybersecurity. In 2011, Mr. Worthington returned to Washington, DC on detail to the Office of the Secretary to serve as an Advisor for Power Marketing Administrations (PMAs). In this capacity, he served as DOE Headquarters advisor on all issues involving the PMAs.
