A new article by OE’s Kerry Cheung, William Parks and Anjan Bose in IEEE’s Smart Grid newsletter describes the Department of Energy’s strategic plan to achieve a future electricity system that will be cost-effective, seamless from generation to end-use, and capable of meeting all clean energy demands and capacity requirements. Developed by DOE’s Grid Tech Team (GTT), the proposed strategy recognizes the diversity and uncertainty of future energy demands and generation portfolios, the inherent regional differences in needs, goals and resources, and the critical importance of continued dialogue and engagement with appropriate stakeholder communities in the development and implementation of technical and institutional solutions.
