The spring edition of the Wind Program Newsletter comes at quite a busy and exciting time for the Wind and Water Power Technologies Office.

Collectively, the office has just completed two highly successful peer reviews, wherein we had the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussions about our programs and projects with a number of experienced representatives from both the wind and the water power industries. As the feedback from our peer review panels becomes available, we will not only make it publically accessible on our website, the program will leverage the information to ensure that we have the most relevant projects for the industries we serve.

We have also reached a critical point with respect to our offshore wind technology demonstration projects. As the first budget period of this initiative comes to a close, I look forward to announcing the teams who will continue on to be several of the first offshore wind projects constructed in U.S. waters.

Finally, I am looking forward to engaging with many wind energy participants at this year's AWEA WINDPOWER 2014 Conference and Exposition, at which the Wind Program will detail the results of our Wind Vision study and host our inaugural Collegiate Wind Competition. Come by the Department of Energy Booth (#1653) for an opportunity to engage with us on these exciting projects and much more!

Sincerely,

Jose Zayas
