General Atomics, in conjunction with the University of Texas-Dallas (UT Dallas), proposes to develop double-stator switched reluctance motor (DSSRM) for electric vehicles (EVs) that will eliminate the use of permanent magnet-based motors that rely on rare earth metals in EVs.
