Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is preparing an EIS that analyzes the potential environmental impacts of constructing and operating a hatchery for coho salmon for release into the Yakima and Klickitat River basins. The proposed hatchery would be owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation (Yakama Nation) and would be constructed on land owned by the Yakama Nation northwest of Ellensburg in Kittitas County, Washington. BPA’s proposed action is to fund the construction of the hatchery.
