On Thursday, Nov. 5, President Obama will host the 2015 White House Tribal Nations Conference in Washington, D.C. The conference will provide leaders from the 567 federally recognized tribes the opportunity to interact directly with high-level federal government officials and members of the White House Council on Native American Affairs.

Each federally recognized tribe is invited to send one representative to attend the event. The deadline to register is Oct. 28.

This will be the seventh White House Tribal Nations Conference for the Obama Administration, and continues to build upon the President’s commitment to strengthen the government-to-government relationship with Indian Country and to improve the lives of American Indians and Alaska Natives, with an emphasis on increasing opportunity for Native youth.

To assist tribal leaders with preparing for this important nation-to-nation summit, the National Congress of American Indians will prepare a briefing book covering overarching issues and the key issues to be discussed in each breakout. Hard copies will be available at a Tribal Leader Preparatory Meeting on Nov. 4.

In addition to the conference, a Tribal Leader Reception will be held at the National Museum of the American Indian on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
