Summary

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) prepared an EIS that assesses the potential environmental impacts of the construction and operation of 1) a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal; and 2) a 23.8-mile, 42-inch-diameter pipeline in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

DOE was a cooperating agency in preparing the EIS and has adopted the EIS. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the import and export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the import or export is not consistent with the public interest.
