EIS-0463: Northern Pass Transmission Line Project, New Hampshire


This EIS will evaluate the potential environmental impacts from DOE’s proposed Federal action of granting a Presidential permit to Northern Pass Transmission, LLC, to construct, operate, maintain, and connect a new electric transmission line across the U.S.-Canada border in northern New Hampshire. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Region 1), the U.S. Forest Service, White Mountain National Forest, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, and the New Hampshire Office of Energy and Planning are cooperating agencies in the preparation of this EIS.

Public Comment Opportunities

DOE invites comments on the draft EIS and supplement to the draft EIS during the comment period that ends January 4, 2016. 

In addition to comments on the draft EIS and the supplement to the draft EIS, DOE is seeking public input on the cultural and historic property review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Comments received or postmarked after the end of the comment period will be considered to the extent practicable.

All comments received on the Northern Pass draft EIS and the supplement to the draft EIS will be made publicly available, including on the project website. Any personally identifiable information, such as names, addresses, and email addresses, that may be included in a comment will automatically be made available to the public. Individual commenters may request that DOE withhold their personally identifiable information from public disclosure, and such requests will be honored to the extent allowable by law. If you wish for DOE to withhold your name and/or other personally identifiable information, please state this prominently at the beginning of your comment or check the appropriate box on the Comment Form. Additionally, DOE will accept comments submitted anonymously.
