EIS-0303: Supplement Analysis

Savannah River Site High-Level Waste Tank Closure, SC

DOE prepared an EIS in 2002 to evaluate alternatives for closing high-level waste tanks at the Savannah River Site. After DOE issued its record of decision in 2002, new waste removal and cleaning technologies were developed, a new performance assessment was prepared to assess performance objectives for tank closure, and a new regulatory waste determination process was established by Congress under Section 3116 of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005.

DOE prepared this supplement analysis to evaluate this new information relevant to environmental concerns, and determined that the new information is not significant and does not bear on the impacts analyzed in the EIS, and therefore no further NEPA documentation is required to proceed with tank closure activities in F Area at the Savannah River Site.
