The U.S. DOE is proposing to provide federal funding to the University of Hawaii to further facilitate the development and implementation of commercial wave energy systems via the Hawaii National Marine Renewable Energy Center housed at the University's Hawaii Natural Energy Institute. The primary objective of the proposed project is to support development and commercialization of marine and hydrokinetic technology by providing a testing infrastructure that allows developers to prove their devices and generate the necessary data to advance their designs toward commercial readiness.
