At the Savannah River Site (SRS), Tank 48H currently holds approximately 240,000 gallons of slurry which contains potassium and cesium tetraphenylborate (KTPB and CsTPB). Personnel must remove or destroy the organics before the tank space can be utilized or closed. Savannah River Remediation and Savannah River National Laboratory are tasked with studying the decomposition of TPB slurries via the use of catalysts and hydrogen peroxide.
