Western proposes to replace a 34.5-kilovolt (kV) circuit breaker within the fenced area of Gila Substation. This will consist of removing the existing 34.5-kV circuit breaker and foundation, trenching to add control cables and conduit to the control building, laying a new foundation and adding a new 34.5-kV circuit breaker. Western will be using existing access roads and vehicles such as backhoes, dozers, bucket trucks, crew trucks and pickup trucks to bring personnel and equipment to the work areas. This work is necessary to maintain the safety and reliability of the bulk electrical system.
