Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) would use Department of Energy (DOE) funding for energy efficiency education and outreach activities directed at industrial energy efficiency in China and India. ISC would retain subject matter experts to collaborate with United States (U.S.) companies to disseminate best practices to their manufacturing facilities in China and India. ISC would adapt DOE energy assessment and management tools and technologies to the Chinese and Indian contexts, targeting the most energy intensive industries and industrial processes. ISC would train Chinese and Indian energy auditors and managers in using these tools and technologies to perform energy saving assessments and implement best practices in reducing energy use. ISC would collaborate with universities, training centers, and energy conservation centers to develop training programs and work with U.S. companies, facility managers, and energy service corporations to identify opportunities to deploy leading U.S. energy technologies and services in the Chinese and Indian markets.
