The Kentucky Department for Energy Development and Independence is planning to award $125,000 in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding to the City of Leitchfield in conjunction with Grayson County to design gas lines and valves. The gas lines and valves will be used to transport methane created by a proposed anaerobic digester at the wastewater treatment plant to a food processing plant to reduce the amount of fuel oil being used at the facility. This is Phase 1 of a two phase project. Phase 2 consists of installing the gas lines and valves for transporting the methane. Once design is completed, another EF-1 will be submitted for Phase 2 that provides more information on specific location and path of lines and valves, materials to be used, and other site-related environmental information. Both phases of the project will receive EECBG funding with a total EECBG funding amount of $250,000.
