The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is providing $1,000,000 in Recovery Act funds to S&C Electric Company (S&C) to offset a portion of the cost to purchase and install new machinery, equipment and process improvements in connection with the company's construction of its new Advanced Technology Center (ATC) on its industrial campus in Chicago, Illinois. Government funding will only be associated with the purchase and installation of equipment, no funds will be associated with building construction activities. ATC building construction began in 2008 and the facility was operational as of early 2010. The completion of the ATC allowed the company to further develop and expand its manufacturing capacity for renewable energy and energy efficiency products.
