The E&CPT (Environmental and Chemical Process Technology) Programs section will conduct vitrification studies in the Cold Cap Evaluation Furnace (CEF) located in the high bay of the Aiken County Technology Laboratory (ACTL). The feed material will be non-radioactive simulant of the Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) process. Approximately 1200 gallons of SRAT (Sludge Receipt and Adjustment Tank) simulant are to be procured from a vendor. All the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act metals have been removed from the formula. Frit 418 will be added to the SRAT product after arrival at ACTL to provide feed for the melter.
