Washington, DC – The Department of Energy today announced the launch of a new Twitter account to help the agency better distribute news and announcements. The @EnergyPressSec feed will offer reporters and other interested stakeholders another way to get important Department information as it is released.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kathleen Hogan, Assistant Deputy Secretary for Energy Efficiency, will host the Department of Energy's fourth "Energy Matters" live chat today. Dr. Hogan will discuss how the cost savings associated with industrial energy efficiency measures affect American companies and their global competitiveness.

Washington, DC - On Monday, November 14, 2011, the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB) will convene a public meeting via conference call to discuss the SEAB Subcommittee on Shale Gas Production draft report . The meeting will allow SEAB members to provide advice and recommendations as well receive public comments on the report.

Washington D.C. - U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will join President Barack Obama at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers and Economic Leaders’ Meetings in Honolulu, Hawaii.  APEC brings member economies together to facilitate economic cooperation, expand trade, and promote job growth. Secretary Chu will participate in the closing plenary session, delivering a presentation focusing on energy efficiency in appliances.

Washington D.C. - U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will join Israeli Minster of National Infrastructures, Uzi Landau, in opening the second annual GridWise Global Forum on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in Washington, D.C. Secretary Chu will discuss the need to modernize America’s electric grid to compete in the 21^st century global economy.  Secretary Chu will deliver remarks and participate in a moderated discussion. The forum is open press and is hosted by the GridWise Alliance, the leading coalition advocating for the transformation of the electric system.

Washington, D.C. -- Thursday, October 20^th, Richard Kauffman, Senior Adviser to the Secretary of Energy, will host the Department of Energy's third "Energy Matters" live chat. Kauffman will discuss the challenges and opportunities of renewable energy innovation and deployment.

Washington D.C. - U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will lead the delegation to the International Energy Agency (IEA) Ministerial Meeting in Paris, France, on Tuesday, October 18. This year’s ministerial theme is “Our Energy Future: Secure, Sustainable, and Together.” Secretary Chu will frame the discussion by speaking on energy security and the importance of moving to a sustainable energy future.
