Grand Junction, Colo. — The U.S. Department of Energy announces the availability of the 2015 Annual Site Inspection and Monitoring Report for Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act Title I Disposal Sites and the 2015 Annual Site Inspection and Monitoring Report for Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act Title II Disposal Sites reports.

In 2015, DOE’s Office of Legacy Management was responsible for performing long-term surveillance and maintenance activities at 25 uranium mill tailings disposal sites established under Title I and Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act of 1978. Activities include conducting site inspections and maintenance; monitoring environmental media, inspecting institutional controls, conducting necessary corrective actions; and performing other administrative, records, and stakeholder participation functions. The annual reports present a summary of the long-term surveillance and maintenance activities performed in 2015 and verification that these disposal sites remain in compliance with license requirements.
