Office Indian Energy Programmatic Directions and Near Term Priorities

After holding numerous and in-depth roundtable and DOE Tribal Summit conversations in early 2011 with tribal governments, tribal organizations and Alaskan Native communities and leaders, the Office of Indian Energy has identified and is designing programs and initiatives around the following areas:

  • Identification and promotion of innovative solutions and approaches to tribal energy development (public-private, inter-tribal, electrical generation, energy resource utilization, electrification, market access, and other energy infrastructure)
  • Identification of opportunities to align and leverage federal resources and streamline access to those resources to effectively and efficiently invest in tribal energy development projects
  • Electric Transmission and Electrification Development: Analysis and Technical Assistance
  • Energy Development: Conventional and Renewable
  • Indian Country Energy & Infrastructure Work Group
  • Native Nations Carbon Sequestration - Analysis and Best Practices Technical Assistance
