On July 12 at the 2016 Solar Conference in San Francisco, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy Director Chris Deschene introduced the hundreds of solar industry enthusiasts, developers, and investors in attendance to an emerging opportunity that may not have been on their radars: renewable energy development on tribal lands.

The opportunity he spoke of is also featured prominently in the Summer 2016 issue of SOLAR TODAY, the magazine of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), which hosts the annual Solar Conference.

Touching on the tribal energy successes highlighted in a feature article in the magazine, Director Deschene shed new light on the potential that exists for the solar industry to forge profitable, mutually beneficial business engagements with tribes.
