The White House brought together tribal leaders from federally recognized tribes to participate in the 7th Annual White House Tribal Nations Conference on Nov. 5, 2015. The President and members of his Cabinet discussed issues of importance to tribal leaders, with an emphasis on ways the Administration can continue to make progress on improving the nation-to-nation relationship and ensuring these gains continue in the future. In addition, 24 youth delegates participated in the Conference to share their unique perspective. Watch their video above.

As a result of the White House Tribal Nations conference, President Obama released several measures to promote the Generation Indigenous (Gen-I) Initiative and other advances and commitments to support tribal nations. 

President Obama launched the Gen-I Initiative at the 2014 White House Tribal Nations Conference to focus on improving the lives of Native youth by removing the barriers that stand between Native youth and their opportunity to succeed. Through new investments and increased engagement, this initiative takes a comprehensive, culturally appropriate approach to ensure all young Native people can reach their full potential.
