Jonathan Elkind serves as the Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs (IA) and previously served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary. Prior to joining the Energy Department, Mr. Elkind worked as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, focusing on energy security and foreign policy issues. He also founded and headed EastLink Consulting, LLC, an independent consultancy focusing on energy, environment, and investment. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Elkind served on the staff of the U.S.
Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Climate and Technology
Dave Turk is Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Climate and Technology at the U.S. Department of Energy. In this role, Mr. Turk helps to coordinate the Department's international climate change and clean energy efforts. He has previously served as Deputy Special Envoy for Climate Change at the U.S. Department of State, where he focused on a range of bilateral and multilateral partnerships to combat climate change. Mr. Turk was also a former Special Assistant to President Barack Obama and the Senior Director for Congressional Affairs at the U.S.
Director, Office of International Climate and Clean Energy
Samantha Gross is the Director for International Climate and Clean Energy at the Office of International Affairs in the U.S. Department of Energy. She directs U.S. activities under the Clean Energy Ministerial, including the secretariat and initiatives focusing on clean energy implementation and access and energy efficiency. Her office also supports the Assistant Secretary and International Affairs staff on issues of climate change and clean energy policy in the international space.
Director, Office of International Science and Technology Collaboration
Dr. Robert Marlay is a member of the U.S. Government's Senior Executive Service. He is currently Director, Office of International Science and Technology Collaboration. He serves concurrently as U.S. Director of the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center, a bilateral initiative to encourage R&D collaboration and accelerate advanced technology development and deployment in both countries. Dr. Marlay represents the United States in a number of international fora in the fields of energy, science, and climate change.
Director, Office of African and Middle Eastern Affairs
Glen Sweetnam is the Director for African and Middle Eastern Affairs in the Office of International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Sweetnam is responsible for managing DOE’s bilateral and multilateral engagement with African and Middle Eastern countries. His office is also responsible for advising DOE leadership on world oil market developments, related policy responses, and U.S. government engagement on those issues in the International Energy Agency, the International Energy Forum, and other ministerial fora.
Alan Yu is the Director for Asian Affairs at the Office of International Affairs. Mr. Yu leads a team of creative and committed professionals whose mandate is to coordinate the efforts and resources of the full range of DOE's senior leadership, technical offices, national labs, and other DOE assets to assure a unified voice and strategy in our energy policy and technical engagement with countries in East, Southeast, and South Asia.
Elizabeth Urbanas is the Director for European and Eurasian Affairs at the Office of International Affairs in the U.S. Department of Energy. Ms. Urbanas is responsible for managing DOE’s bilateral and multilateral engagement with European and Eurasian countries. She is also responsible for DOE's work in the G-20 and G-7.
