Labor Management Meetings and Activities

Since shortly after its establishment in October 2006, the DOE Office of Health and Safety (HSS) has worked to establish forums for communication between labor and management related to worker health, safety and security improvements across the DOE complex. Since February 2007, the HSS Focus Group Forum has been a venue for communication among HSS managers, labor unions, and stakeholder representatives. The Focus Group Forum has resulted in integrated collaborative worker health and safety improvement activities in areas such as DOE's safety and security reform, worker safety training, workforce reliability, communications, leadership commitment, and worker involvement.

The engagement of worker representatives in DOE's strategic efforts to enhance operations and improve performance has been expanded over the past several years by open lines of communication between top level DOE and union leadership. The engagement between DOE and worker representatives takes place in the following three forums:
