Philips: Noncompliance Determination (2012-SE-2605)

August 31, 2012

DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Philips Lighting Electronics N. A. finding that basic model VEL-1S40-SC, a fluorescent lamp ballast, does not comport with the energy conservation standards.  DOE determined the product was noncompliant based on the company's own testing.  Philips must immediately notify each person (or company) to whom Philips distributed the noncompliant products that the product does not meet Federal standards.  In addition, Philips must provide to DOE documents and records showing the number of units Philips distributed and to whom.  The manufacturer and/or private labeler of the product may be subject to civil penalties.
