National Comfort Products: Proposed Penalty (2010-SE-0307)

September 28, 2011

DOE issued this Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty Notice to National Comfort Products, alleging that the company certified several models of residential air conditioners without performing testing required by DOE regulations.  DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards.  This civil penalty notice advises the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
