Midea: Noncompliance Determination (2012-SE-1404)

July 18, 2012

DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Midea America Corp. finding that basic models UL-WD195-D and UL-WD145-D of freezers do not comport with the energy conservation standards.  DOE determined the products were noncompliant based on DOE testing.  Midea must immediately notify each person (or company) to whom Midea distributed the noncompliant products that the products do not meet Federal standards.  In addition, Midea must provide to DOE documents and records showing the number of units Midea distributed and to whom.  The manufacturer and/or private labeler of the product may be subject to civil penalties.
